For this course, and the internship accompanying it, I have developed three major learning objectives that I’d like complete.
1. Gain Knowledge of the Senior Care Market
Since I am in marketing, any chance to gain knowledge and explore a new marketplace is something that interests me, even if the industry does not. I am a huge proponent of the idea that someone in a field like mine should learn all that they can about various parts of business that they might be able to include later in their career. In addition, when looking for a career after this, I can consider the senior care industry as a potential career field.
To complete this outcome, I need to work daily to see just how large the market is and what it needs. To do this, I need to work with the management staff and talk with them about it. Both the CEO and COO come from senior care backgrounds, so they will be a great place to start.
2. Learn and Apply the Company’s Values in the Work I do
The company’s values are Love, Compassion and Empathy. Every day, whether it’s a phone call or someone comes in the office, everyone is treated like a friend or family. This allows for Care Partners to create lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with its clients and staff. I want to carry these values into my schooling and career, to hopefully create the same sort of relationships that Care Partners does with my own relationships.
To accomplish this outcome, I simply need more time with the company. Observing and utilizing these values in my own interactions on a daily basis will help me to better hammer these behaviors down.
3. Learn and Apply Proper Business Etiquette
Before my internship, my only experience with office culture and etiquette was through movies and television. It’s not something that can be taught in a classroom, but learned through experience. So through my experiences completing projects for management, I look forward to cultivating encounters that increase my knowledge of what to do, how to do it and when to do it.
